Dermaplane
WHAT IS DERMAPLANE?

Dermaplaning is an exfoliating treatment that involves gently scraping the surface of your skin with a surgical scalpel to remove dead skin.  It gets rid of facial hair, can make your face feel baby soft, and helps give you a smooth foundation application, all without having to use harsh exfoliators.

You can expect to see smoother skin, zero peach fuzz (until it grows back, of course), and brighter-looking skin. And because you’re removing all your dead skin cells, your skincare products will better penetrate your skin when you apply them, making them all the more effective.

WHAT DOES IT TREAT?
PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
POST-CARE INSTRUCTIONS
  • Discontinue any manual or physical exfoliation 3-5 days prior: To ensure the skin is not damaged by over-exfoliation, discontinue use of any products containing ingredients that slough off skin cells. This includes, but is not limited to AHAs, BHAs, enzymes, micro-beads, and retinoids.

  • Avoid sun exposure for 5-7 days

  • Do not schedule Botox or facial filler prior to dermaplaning. After Botox, there is a 4-hour wait before you can lie down. After filler, you must wait 3-4 days before receiving any treatments that apply pressure to the skin. Schedule your dermaplaning service before your Botox or filler appointment if you are receiving them on the same day. If you are receiving them after, follow the guidelines above.

  • Schedule your waxing services 1-2 weeks before dermaplaning.

  • Reschedule your appointment if you have open acne lesions or wounds.

  • Wait 6 months after completing Accutane.

  • Keep to a simple skincare routine for 2 weeks: Cool water during rinsing is highly advised.  Avoid using a washcloth, instead use clean fingers to cleanse your face and gently pat dry.

  1. Gentle Cleanser

  2. Hyaluronic Acid

  3. Light Weight Moisturizer

  • Further to the above, serums are greatly recommended as absorption levels are elevated, so products containing hyaluronic acid, vit C and retinol can be highly effective post-treatment.

  • After Dermaplane, avoid sun-tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for 2-3 days. When exposed to sun, always use SPF30+ and a sun hat.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating for 3 days, due to open pores.

  • Do not exfoliate for 2 weeks post treatment.

  • Avoid facial waxing for 7 days after Dermaplane.

  • Avoid chlorine for 24 hours.

  • Avoid dermal fillers or Botox for 3-4 weeks based on area.

  • Treat skin gently washing with a gentle cleanser, cool water, using hands only and pat dry. Do not touch your face with unwashed hands.

  • You may restart  your regular skin care regimen after 24 hours and Retin A after 48 hours.

  • Recommend follow up and repeat treatments in 4 weeks and for best results a series of 3 – 5 treatments.
